Council of the European Union, 10 May 2009. Strategic Trade

On 5 May 2009, the Council adopted a regulation setting up a Community regime for the control of exports, transfer, brokering and transit of dual-use items (7815/09, 7815/09 COR1).

The regulation, which replaces regulation (EC) No 1334/2000, is aimed at strengthening and improving the EU's dual-use export control regime. It takes into account the recommendations of the 2004 peer review of all member states' and acceding countries' export controls and the results of a subsequent impact assessment study, as well as the EU's obligations under United Nations Security Council resolution 1540, (2004).
